When surfing the web how do you know what sites you can trust to be safe and free from malware, spy-ware and viruses? Most of us simply trust that if a sight is listed in Google, looks ok and doesn't set your anti-virus software off its probably ok. Sadly you would be wrong.
Even the most innocent looking site can carry some nasty stuff in the background that could potentially cause harm to your computer.
So how can you know which websites are safe and which are ones to avoid? Try the W.O.T. add-on for your browser or simply install it on your computer. Basically its an add on that will mark any website link you view with a small icon that will tell you whether or not you should trust the website it will take you to. It will also warn you if you are about to enter a website that has a poor reputation.
The add-on itself works by allowing its users to rate a website as safe or dangerous and anywhere inbetween. So the opinion you get of the site is based on real user experiences.
You can read more about the add-on here...
